Michelle and Barack on Cover of US Weekly

The View

Here's a link to the video of her co-hosting The View.
And, yes her dress was off-the-rack from White House/Black Market, designed by Donna Ricco. Sales of the dress have apparently skyrocketed since its appearance on national television.

It's a Jungle Out There

After the week she had in the press, Michelle turned the tables this past Friday going from being the "hunted" to the "hunter" when she wore this update to the classic safari jacket on a visit to Oakleaf Village retirement community in Columbus, Ohio.
Get her look: With tons of safari jackets in the market place, Banana Republic's version stands out with its clean lines, bright pomegranate color, and reasonable price tag of $98.

Just a reminder to set your Tivo for June 18 when Michelle will be co-hosting The View. I wonder what she'll wear?!?!
Extra! Extra! Read all About It!

Yahoo's #1 emailed article today is this quick read that briefly compares Michelle and Cindy McCain. I love that people are still paying attention to the ladies even though Hillary is out of the race.

Barack's Rock

Here's an excellent article by Newsweek that discusses Michelle's role in the campaign. As usual, I appreciate her encouraging tone and particularly enjoyed the bit about her being able to achieve the unexpected by simply showing up and playing hard.

Family Woman

Shown above with Barack and daughters Malia and Sasha.
Vanity Fair wrote this fabulous article about Michelle back in December. It discusses the various compromises she and Barack have made in their relationship, her idea of family, her career expectations, and how she balances everything in her chaotic life. A must read for anyone interested in the post-feminist revolution!
Michelle's Fashion Tips for Women on the Go

Here's an article from the Raleigh News and Observer where she talks about her wardrobe on the campaign trail.
I love the orange shift, a nicer version (because it's probably custom made) of J.Crew's fresh look this summer.

The Truth about Michelle's Background--She's American!

There have been stories swirling that Michelle isn't really from a "working class" background. That her neighborhood wasn't blue collar enough, that her mom didn't have to work, that she is too well educated. I'll come back to this, but in the mean time I keep wondering, why can't everyone (Obama camp included) accept the working, middle class upbringing that--like many Americans--she grew up with?
Here's an interesting article on the topic.

Michelle Charms Colbert

April 2008: Though Barack declined to be on the show, Michelle appeared and did a splendid job. Click here to see the video.

Glimpse in their house

Older, but good NYTimes article from Feb.

This article from the New York Times in February was one of the first things I read that got me interested in her. Talks about her strengths as well as some of her weaknesses. Good introductory read about her.

NYTimes on her style

I've been thinking for the last couple of months what great style Michelle Obama has. Looks like the New York Times agrees. Click here for their article from today's paper.
